How Long Do Breast Implants Last?

The question of breast implant longevity does not have a simple answer. Breast implant longevity seems to be highly variable, with some lasting only a few months and others lasting fifteen years or more. This makes it impossible for us to predict how long your implants will last. Fortunately, breast implants come with good warranties from their manufacturers in the event of an early rupture.

Breast implants are also better than they used to be, so the implants that are being implanted today are better-designed than ever and likely to last longer than earlier models. We expect today's implants to last 20 years or more.

Another factor to consider is that even if the breast implants themselves last 20 years, your good breast augmentation results may not. Like natural breasts, augmented breasts are subjected to gravity and may begin to sag over time. Depending on the structure of your breasts and the condition of your skin, breast sagging may become significant in ten years or so. At that time, you may decide you want to remove breast implants and refresh your results.
